Jubilee Street Party
Friday 3 June
Join us for the ultimate alternative Queen’s Jubilee Street Party. Whilst friends and family across the UK dust off the deck chairs and prep the cucumber sandwiches, we’re throwing our own street party celebration with a difference. A host of Manchester’s DJs and bands will descend onto the terrace on Friday 3 June, to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in right royal style. Keep an eye on The Wire and our socials for line-up announcements…
Move over plastic garden chairs and soggy sausage rolls and enter British party food with a Refuge twist. Think coronation chicken or jackfruit tacos, pork and kimchi sausage rolls, and mushroom and truffle vol-au-vents. There’ll be Refuge takes on classic British cakes including a red, white and blue Battenberg, plus a cocktail menu fit for the queen, including ‘The Crown Jewel’ made with Earl Grey tea, Beefeater gin, lavender and lemon, topped with fizz.
The Jubilee Street Party will showcase a diverse range of up-and-coming talent alongside established names from around Manchester playing music with a tongue-in-cheek nod to the royal family from 1-10pm. Kicking the festivities off is a collective of sisters who spin all killers and no fillers, Eves’Drop Collective. Multi-faceted vocalist Yemi Bolatiwa & The Soul Carousel, as heard on BBC Introducing Manchester and BBC 1Xtra will energise the crowds with a set full of hands in the air, feel good anthems. A stick of dynamite in the DJ booth, Ms. Puerto Rico is guaranteed to bring energy and bone-shakin’ bass lines to get you dancing. DJ collectives Lovescene and 2 Left Feet will also make an appearance spinning irresistible sounds from around the globe, whilst well-respected Reggae DJ, UK Hip Hop pioneer and producer Mikey D.O.N. will keep the tunes coming on the terrace until close at 10pm when the party continues within The Refuge.
Forget Pimm’s and paper plates, this will be a street party to remember!
